Vegiemon is a collection of 10,000 Vegiemon that are programmatically generated with random combinations of hundreds of traits on the Ethereum blockchain in the form of ERC-721 tokens.
The Vegiemon project started with the power duo: Uowwnui, a game developer, and DADA, an illustration artist. Their first idea was to create a game that could use NFTs as part of the assets. They are looking for new opportunities to explore, and NFTs seem to be a challenging place to dive into. They started Vegiemon by gathering inspiration around this Defi world and the metaverse.
What is the inspiration behind this Shiba & Onion hybrid?
DADA got her inspiration to create Vegiemon from her interest in Shiba Inu. Its playful characteristics and bountiful energy are great qualities to create a friendly creature. To make something suggestive of the friendliness and playful vibes, DADA became interested in using a round shape and so the onion became a huge inspiration from its roundness. DADA got the idea to use an onion as it is often cooked during the pandemic lockdown. These two elements were combined together and became Vegiemon, a cute, friendly, and playful creature to invade the NFT space.
Vegiemon was sold out on August 12, 2021. The project got its attention from the cuteness and cheekiness of Vegiemon, along with the mint price of 0.005ETH which is considered to be a good and friendly price for people who are new to NFTs and want to try and take part in the big collection project. The Vegiemon team has continued working on the roadmap since then which includes the community giveaway, community challenge and the 2nd Gen.: Cursed Vegiemon.
Cursed Vegiemon is a 2nd Gen. from Vegiemon where the community takes part and gets involved in making decisions for its development. The art style is completely different from the 1st Gen. with more profile picture characteristics and more mature content added to them.
By holding 5 Vegiemons, the holder will get 1 Cursed Vegiemon as an airdrop.
Cursed Vegiemon is expected to be released in mid-September.
Next Steps For Vegiemon
Upon creating both Vegiemon and Cursed Vegiemon, the big goal of the project is to create a game using these Vegiemon and Cursed Vegiemon as characters in the game. This game is expected to be exclusive content for all Vegiemon holders. And, in further development, it would be a collaboration with the Back In Black Kat project (from the same team) to create a game where Vegiemon and Black Kat will engage in a fight between each other. There is still a lot of room for the development to explore, and the team is growing and developing their project by listening to their holder community.
At a very early stage of the game development roadmap. This project has already presented a web-based gallery game called ‘Island’. It is a mini-game where players can run around with their Vegiemon and rearrange their own NFT gallery in any area of their private island. The game is currently in beta, using ChainSafe Gaming SDK to get information on NFT assets from the player’s wallet. Players will be able to choose up to 3 wallets to connect, which are MetaMask, Torus, and WalletConnect.
